1. I have no time.
According to a story in a recent issue of Men’s Health magazine, Barack Obama works out for 45 minutes a day, 6 days a week. Obama doesn’t just play basketball either. Our new president stays fit to lead with cardio and weight lifting. He also says he wishes he could train 90 minutes a day. Have you ever seen what the daily schedule of a U.S. president looks like? If the busiest man in the world can train every day for 45 minutes a day, then what’s your excuse? ZIP IT! You ain’t got one!
2. It’s too expensive.
Getting in shape certainly is expensive… if you keep wasting hundreds of dollars, month after month on worthless “miracle” weight loss pills, internal cleansing gimmicks and “magic” potions that all claim to make you slim. Deceptive advertising and slick marketing for bogus diet aids is more rampant than ever. 2008 was the year of thewu-long tea scam, the acai berry scam, and, of course, the ubiquitous “cleansing” and “detox” gimmicks . Unless you put on your critical thinking cap and learn to investigate before you invest, then you’ll get scammed by 2009’s flavor of the year as well. Your quest for those elusive “6-pack” abs will not only continue to be expensive, you’ll go broke. Walking, jogging, calisthenics and body weight exercises are FREE. If you want to know what’s really expensive, tally up the cost of legitimate expenses like natural food, gym memberships, fitness education, dumbbells and so on, and compare that to your doctor’s bill when you’re sick.
3. No one will support me.
Experts on social influence say your income will be approximately equal to the average of your 5 closest friends. Not only do I think that’s pretty darn accurate, I also believe that your health is your greatest wealth, and your physical condition will be about equal to the average of your 5 closest friends. It’s a real challenge to stay positive, focused and active when you’re surrounded by critical people and negative influences. However, in 2009, lack of support is no longer a valid excuse. Online social networking is exploding (check outTwitter and Facebook ) and more IN PERSON friendships and associations are being made from an internet connection than ever before. Training buddies can be found online. Connect with them. Mentors and coaches are easily found online. Hire them. Support forums have been around for years. Use them. No support from your current friends? Stop whining, start reaching out and go make new ones. In 2009, support partners and new friends are just a click away.
4. I can’t lose weight because of my genetics.
The marvels of modern medical and biological research are astonishing. Our top scientists have mapped the human genome! In the past few years, numerous genes linked to obesity have been discovered. However, the obesity epidemic we’re facing today has only developed over the past 50 years and genetic mutations that lead to serious obesity are extremely rare. Genetic predisposition only means that you have a tendency. It’s when the genetics meet lifestyle and environment that the genes express themselves. If you have a family history of heart disease, is it smart to smoke, eat junk, be a stressed-out, type-A maniac and a couch potato? Well of course not, and it’s the same with obesity. If you have a tendency predisposing you towards obesity, you’d better be the person doing the MOST exercise, not the least. You’d better be the person paying the MOST attention to your nutrition. You’d better be the person with the healthiest lifestyle. But unfortunately, it’s usually the opposite. Most people throw up their arms in frustration saying, “what’s the use, I was dealt a bad hand.” Sorry. That won’t fly in 2009. The latest research says genetics are a factor, but a tendency is not a destiny!
5. I don’t know how.
The lamest excuse of them all in 2009 is “I don’t know how.” NO ONE KNOWS HOW TO DO ANYTHING UNTIL AFTER THEY HAVE ACTUALLY DONE IT! Ponder that for a while. You don’t need to know how at first. To get started, you only need to know WHAT… what is the goal? Setting well-formed goals is the master skill of success. Not wishy-washy resolutions that have no resolve behind them, but real goals. In writing. With emotional ooompf! As you continue to affirm, visualize and focus on your goal with clarity, belief, and expectation, your new goal or intention will be received by your subconscious. Once a goal is accepted into your subconscious mind, your brain, being a goal-seeking mechanism, will turn on your attention filters to seek out all the information you will ever need to reach your goal. It will also turn on an infallible navigation system to guide you to your goal like a torpedo to its target. As your brain guides your attention, your direction and your behavior, you will discover that today, in 2009, there is more good information, coaching and instruction available than ever before. And when you’ve activated that “success radar” in your brain by setting goals effectively, it’s not as hard to find honest, accurate and helpful HOW-TO advice as you might think. In fact, you found this webpage, so you’re doing pretty good right now, aren’t you?

Have you ever seen popular magazines on a newstands? Majority of them
have some well thought headline on their cover - “Skinny And Toned For This Summer” or “How To Lose 35Lbs With This Nutrition Bar” or “Get Ripped, Show Your Six Pack And Say Goodbye To Your Love-Handels” etc, etc…
All these are just brainwashing you, the general public, about some new
fad diet craze.
Now I have promised myself to take an action step, that will help you spot
Fad Diets in a second. That will prevent you from yo-yo-dieting or frustration many of these fad diets put on your shoulders.
Reason No. 1 Why Fad Diets Do Not Work:
This one is just common sense. Look around you! Do you see fat people walking around? Now look at how many fad diets are out there – Zone, Atkins, South Beach Diet, Nutra-System, La Diet, Jenny Craig Diet and thousands of others.
Now, if there are thousands of fad diets on todays market place, don’t you think that you should see less and less fat people around?
It would make sense, but the opposite is true. For which my common sense responds, that fad diets do not work! If they would, you would see skinny people all day long.
Reason No. 2 Why Fad Diets Do Not Work:
This reason is more science based. Many fad diets will want you to drastically cut down on calories, will remove certain food groups from your list and let you starve!
That is not healthy way of eating. Why? Well, if you starve yourself, your body naturally responds and your inside mechanism switch to a fat storage mode.
It’s unconscious and you can not do anything about it when it happens. Basically your brain thinks that you do not have extra food, like from the times of famine and to protect itself it starts to collect as much fat as possible. This fat is supposed to keep you going a bit.
You see, your brain doesn’t know that you live right next to the supermarket, it does not recognize that you starve yourself “willingly” based on a fad diet.
So what is your goal?
First, you really do not want to follow any fad diet out there, and I do not care what the “diet guru” who came up with that fad diet says.
Second, you want to make sure that you never put your body into that “unconscious starvation mode” switch.
And when you combine that with a regular exercise, like walking, swimming, weight-lifting or what ever exercise you like, you will start seeing dramatic results in terms of healthy fat loss.

Do you? Well I hope that information on this page will change your mind very quickly. Because diet and healthy eating habits are just two completely different things.
So what is a diet?
Diet is a simply stated a way of eating! Diet is not something you go to lose weight as many people believe. And I do not blame them. The media used the word “Diet” and made it as a synonymum for “losing weight” - and I am here to challenge the media, expert authors or whoever tries to convince you that you will lose weight on a diet.
Now, what is your diet? Well, take a pen and paper right now! Go and take a look inside your fridge and write down what do you see.
Do you see fresh fruits, vegetables, lean chicken breasts, fish etc…? Or
do you see cans of fruits, frozen vegetables, burgers, sausages and a piece of McDonald Cheeseburger from your last lunch?
Think about what you have just done for a moment.
Now. Conclude your own resolution. Is it healthy eating what you are doing? Or is it not healthy eating, based on what you saw in your refridgerator?
Now, which one is a diet? Clue: Both!
One is good diet, or “healthy eating diet”. The second one is what I call “junk diet” and it is not healthy, but it is a form of a diet!
So all you have to do is change your healthy eating habits! And your own body will do all the rest by itself. No need to count your calories, remove certain foods from your diet or taking some “miracle weight loss pill”.

Healthy eating is a simply balanced diet which includes all the nutrients necessary for your body to function at your maximum best potential.
Healthy eating will consist of consuming protein, healthy carbs, fiber and pytonutrient rich fruits or vegetables. When all mixed together, your plate will look nice and fresh. The best part of this healthy eating habits is that you will be eating foods you normally eat anyway. But this time we will change it a bit.

I think you are not alone. Many people asked me this question on my days when I was speaking about weight loss and fitness on public.
Maybe the reason for this question is the confusion about fitness, weight loss and leading healthy lifestyle. All thanks to media.
Just take a look at some of the leading health and fitness magazines like Men’s Health, Muscle and Fitness For Her, Total Fitness etc…

There are so many choices, so many tips on what is the best weight loss exercise, yet American’s are getting fatter, the kids are geting fatter and all kinds of health challenges arise:
Diabetes
Stroke
High Cholesterol
Artritis
Back Pain
Jong And Knee Aches
Dizziness
and I could go on and on…
But I will stop the list here.
Basicaly, people are lazy. They love to find the best kept secret exercise lose weight, yet they will not start practicing it. And then in their mind, they get frustrated, becasue that secret weight loss exercise did not work.

So please stop trying to find the secret weight loss exercise and look at yourself in the mirror – yes you can put on Michael Jackson song “Man In The Mirror”…
…and think what do you enjoy doing?
Is it walking? Great! Walking is your best exercise to lose weight.
Is it dancing? Fantasctic! Go to the club and dance your butt off!
Is it martial arts? Nice. At least you will learn to kick some ass!
Is it swimming? Skiing? Basketball? Tennis?Volleyball? Yoga? Weight lifting?
And again I can go on and on!
The point is that there are so many activities, you can plug in and just start doing it on a regular basis. You just need to get into a habit of doing something. And the best way to make it a habit is when you enjoy it. Otherwise it will become a chore. And chore will never be the best exercise to lose weight for you.
Once the habit of exercising or working out is there, you can cross-train, try something else.
For example: You like to walk at first. You start seeing some results like more energy, more strenght, couple pound down etc. They you decide that Yoga will be the next great weight loss exercise. After Yoga you will lift some weight for weight loss and the circle can be never ending!

Great! So get off the computer, stretch yourself ang go for a nice 10 minutes walk and get some fresh air. You will feel amazing. I guarantee that!

How many diets still need to prove to you that fad diets like these do not work?
Now more then ever, there are hundreds of diets, yet more people are bigger, fat, obese and they go from diet to diet (yo-yo dieting) and still can’t lose weight.

Hi, this is Brett Slansky, your Transitions Lifestyle Coach. I will reveal the truth about fad diets, slim fast diets or other quick fix type of diets.
Here is what I need you to get into your head:
Diets as you know them do not work for couple reasons. First, let me explain the definition of a diet.
Diet should mean: the way to nourish body with foods and nutrients.
But for many of us, diets means restricting calories, removing food groups from our menu, skipping meals, going on meal replacement shakes or going on fad diets or diet flavor of the month.
Now look how many diets were developed, yet people get bigger and bigger!
How is that possible!
Well, I told you DIETS do not work. All they do is help you to lose weight as water and muscle. That is not healthy way of eating.
Your body needs water and certainly needs muscles.
Just remember this: “Muscles Dictates Metabolism”.
So forget fad diets or quick fix diets that do more harm to your body then help.
Next time when you see any diets like:
south beach diet
atkins diet
free diet plans
slim fast diet
subway diet
raw vegetable diet
diet pills
atkins grapefruit diet
fad diets
cabbage soup diet
zone diet
free online diets
free diet programs
Just run. All they would have you do is to remove some foods, starve yourself, lower calories and many horrible things, that would leave you with completely slowed metabolism – crucial in healthy weight management.

Is there anything like “free exercise tips” in today’s marketplace? Of course there are. You probably know some already. You just do not realize it.
So here I am, looking to your face through this computer screen and trying to get you to refresh your mind about some simple free exercise tips, so you can achieve your weight loss goals.
7 Free Exercise Tips To Get You Going The Right Way
Tip No. 1 – Commit Yourself To Do Something For Your Health.
I know that sound like broken record, but you heard me right. If you will not commit to your own health and wellness, no one will. Then all the free exercise tips don’t even matter.
Tip No.2 – Select Your Favorite Exercise Activity.
The reason for this is that when you do what you really like, you will be more likely to follow your exercise routine. Which in turn brings you more towards your healthy weight loss goals. Select activity you do not like, and you are doomed to fail. I have never seen anyone succeeding in an activity they do not enjoy!
Tip No.3 – Schedule Exercise Time
First, try to do your exercise for just couple minutes, maybe 5-10 every day. Get used to the feeling of working out and get used to a new schedule. I am sure you will be able to do this. Then just increase yout exercise time based on your progress.
Tip No.4 – Stick To Your Plan, No Excuses.
This tip will be harder to accomplish for 95% of all people. That is the reason I have included this free exercise tip here. It will take some time for you to see results, so take it with baby steps and do not expect too much. If you do, you will be frustrated if results are not showing up! So do yourself a favor and for at least 12 weeks, try to follow your exercise plan.
Tip No. 5 – Track Your Progress On Weekly Basis
When you track your progress every week, you will be able to measure, monitor adjust and control your own exercise progress. So if you want to get down 20 pounds of fat for the next summer season, calculate how many weeks it will be, how many pound per week you need to lose etc… Write it down on piece of paper. Then check your weekly progress with the “exercise plan” to see if you need to adjust something.
Tip No. 6 – Write Down Why You Need To Exercise
When you write down “WHY” you need to exercise, you will send a subconscious signals to your brain. These signals will work for you day and night. Why? Because you gave your brain the logic behind you exercising. Especially when you have never done exercise, you need to convince your brain to actually do it. So give it some reason. You will see how easier it will be to work-out!
Tip No.7 – Imagine Yourself Already Finished Your Exercise Plan
This is called visualization and it works in all walks of life. Top athletes using it to perform their maximum best. Soldiers are using it to overcome fear and pump themselves up in tough situations, top business people use visualizations to improve their business performance etc… So if you want to lose 10 pounds of fat, see yourself in the mirror like that. See yourself on the beach playing valleyball and everybody looking at your great shape etc…
And here is one of my final “Free Exercise Tips” – Just have fun doing whatever exercise you chose to do. I personally believe that if it’s not fun, it’s not worth doing it. Not only that! If it’s not fun, it won’t work.
